Buzz-Cut Boy

We held off about as long as we could. But it was finally time. The temperature was a bit warmer, thus it was time for David to get a haircut. We trimmed his hair about a month ago, but our shaggy little boy was in need of another cut. And, since we could buy a razor for 4 times the cost of a haircut, we decided that he was going to get a home-made haircut. It was the way to go.

The only problem: neither Julie or I had ever given an infant a haircut. The last time he got it cut, we went to a salon and had someone else do it while we held David. The other issue was that the longest blade they have on the razor is 3/4 inch. Well, we went for it, and after our first round (David didn't have patience to do the whole thing in one sitting), it was looking pretty bad. In fact, the picture of David with a very unhappy look on his face comes from the first night. Perhaps he just then realized that his Sampson-like locks were now on the floor. Or, perhaps he realized how bad of a job we did (you can see the hairs still covering his ears). Well, after the first night, his hair looked pretty spotty, all sorts of different lengths.

The next morning (last Saturday), we finished it off, getting it all to a very, very short 1/2 inch. I must say that it looks weird to see our kid with hair this short--mainly because this is the shortest his hair has EVER been. Even right out of the womb he had more hair than this. However, it has grown on me, especially the idea that we won't have to give him another haircut for a few months.
