The humor of it all...
Well, we made it to Moscow! Overall, the trip went pretty well. The first two flights (Indy to Chicago & Chicago to London) went really well. On the long flight over the pond, David settled into his bassonet which British Airways supplied and got about 4 hours of sleep-much to our delight and relief. The only problem was that we arrived in London 45 minutes late-less than an hour to get to our next flight. Of course, our flight to Moscow was on a totally different terminal, which resulted in our power-walking through Heathrow, arriving at the gate ten minutes after it was "closed." Which meant, of course, that they hadn't even started to load the plane yet. SO, we settled into our seats, nice and sweaty from our morning workout. The trip to Moscow was uneventful, beside the very nice flight attendents who moved the guy who had been sitting next to us, so as to give David a seat as well. The fun began once we arrived to Moscow. As we were bringing 13 bags to Russia, I was really worried about how we were going to get all of those bags through the airport. In fact, we had been praying about this very issue. Well, God answered our prayer-though not in the way that I expected. As we sat by the baggage claim carousel, waiting for our bags to be spit out, it soon became apparent that not all of our bags wouldn't be coming. In fact, we only got 6 of the 13 bags. BUT, the two bags we needed did come-the one with David's bed and the one with our clothes/toiletries for the next few days. As we spent the hour in the Lost & Found, I couldn't help but chuckle a couple of times at how the Lord provided. Now in about an hour we will be making our way up to Tver, our temporary home for the next few months, at least, where we will be learning Russian.
